Street & Trade Directories

Throughout the 19thC and into the 20thC the publication of directories became increasingly popular. One of the earliest Cornish directories is Pigot's Directory of 1830. However it was several decades later before coverage was detailed and comprehensive enough to include the smaller parishes. The most consistent directory was Kelly's but there were also Post Office Directories, Harrods, White's, etc.

Directories usually only mention tradesmen, farmers and private residents who were 'of independent means'.
