1569 Muster Returns

Personal names (no matter how dubious e.g. Habraham for possibly Abraham) are transcribed exactly as they have been recorded. Although the returns technically were required to deal with all men between the ages of 16 and 60, we of course have no means of verifying whether that requirement was met. The names of some men (cavalrymen certainly were) may have been omitted from the lists; others who were listed may have been outside the specified age group. Not all men are listed with weapons, a number of entries containing no information in that respect.
