Linkinhorne Parish
BASTARDY BONDS
Sadly very few bastardy bonds have survived for the three parishes. To date I have only found three at the Cornwall Record Office (DDRD655). A few details about other cases can be found in the Quarter Session Records and the Newspaper Extracts (from 1856).
1. Gamaliel WAKEM, labourer of St Ive and Edward PEARCE yeoman of St Ive held by Bond to indemnify the Parish of Linkinhorne from a bastard child. Mary TREVARTHEN of Linkinhorne having sworn under examination that Gamaliel WAKEM is the father of her base born child.

2. Henry COUMBE labourer, and Jane COUMBE widow, held by Bond to indemnify the Parish of Linkinhorne fore bastard child. Charity SARGENT of Linkinhorne having sworn under examination that the said Henry Coumbe is the father of her bastard child.

2 years later Henry Coumbe was at it again!
